The first venture into the Time in a Bottle Charts comes from the Boss Radio survey at KHJ Los Angeles — the station I grew up with and the soundtrack of my youth. As Bryan Adams reminded us in 1984, we’re heading back to the Summer of ’69 — more specifically, August 27, 1969.
For this debut chart, I’ve included each song’s position on the three major national charts. KHJ was often far ahead of the nationals, especially in the 60s, and this survey is full of records that barely made a dent nationally but were big, bright, and booming locally.

Nice collection of songs! I was 14 at the time, and I have to admit that I had to check a few of the songs on YouTube that I didn't remember, such as "Keem-O-Sabe" by Electric Indian and Waylon Jennings singing "MacArthur Park". Even so, lots of good memories from that time!
ReplyDeleteI was 9 at the time. I agree a nice collection of songs. Brings me back to the days of strapping my transistor radio to my bike and riding around town all days with my buddies. Good times.
ReplyDeleteI recall nearly ll of these songs, even the 'non-hits'. Most got at least some airplay in my area. I liked Al Wilson's cover of CCR's "Lodi".
